Vance (lead, 60s–70s)
About the Job
Appears in: Live action and VR A trained neurosurgeon turned tech billionaire and the founder of Afterglow. Once the most powerful man in any room, and now a pale, withering body tended by nurses “like a pharaoh waiting to be sealed inside his tomb. ” He is dying, and he has hidden his Alzheimer’s for years. Brilliant, paranoid and controlling. Beneath the surface, Vance is a widower who never recovered from his wife’s death and a father whose own ambitions drove him apart from his sons. He is the villain of the story, but never a cartoon: the audience should believe he loved his family even as he failed them. In live action the performance is still and near-silent; he is also heard in private voice memos, and he appears within the digital world in VR. Required skills: Dramatic and naturalistic acting, voiceover (recorded memos). Open to aging and illness makeup
